Longer-term visits
A longer-term visitor visa may suit someone planning repeated trips. Its validity and the permitted stay on a particular visit are different things.
Long-term Standard Visitor visas can have validity periods of two, five or ten years. They support repeat visits rather than residence: each visit is normally limited to six months. A longer visa does not turn that into permission to stay for years at a time.
It concerns the period during which the visa can be used, subject to its conditions. It does not turn visitor permission into a way to live or work in the UK.
Each trip must fit a genuine visitor purpose. Frequent or successive visits can raise questions if the overall pattern looks like residence. The travel plan matters alongside the label on the visa.
