Renewal can help you keep future travel plans moving. Having a valid passport does not remove the need to consider the renewal timetable or any changes since it was issued.
If your passport has expiredA renewal starts with an existing passport history. A first passport may require a different nationality enquiry. Changes in name or personal details can also make a renewal less straightforward than replacing an unchanged document.
The expiry date is only one part of travel readiness; destination requirements and the time during which documents may be unavailable also matter. A planned trip does not guarantee a renewal decision by that date.
