Short visits and stopovers
A stopover may involve remaining airside or crossing the UK border. That distinction can matter more than how few hours you intend to spend in the country.
Airport arrangements, onward travel and the need to collect baggage or change airports can affect the journey. A connecting flight does not automatically mean that no UK entry permission is needed.
If you plan to enter the UK for activities beyond the connection, the purpose and entry requirements should be considered as well as transit. Avoid treating all short stays as the same category.
