English-language requirements
Some UK immigration routes include an English-language requirement. The relevant level, accepted evidence and any exemption depend on the route and the applicant's circumstances.
A test suitable for one purpose may not be suitable for another. An existing qualification or earlier result can raise a different question from booking a new test.
The application route and the evidence already available should be understood first. Do not assume that a familiar test name or general English ability settles the requirement for your particular case.
